Workshops and lectures
Our goal for Readsilentbooks.com is to promote, inspire and provide relevant information about silent books. But it is of course not possible for a website to match the learning potential that direct teaching provides: Physical meetings where you can browse the books, get guidance in how to read and mediate them, and have the opportunity to ask questions and be inspired.
I have been collecting, mediating, researching and teaching wordless picture books for several years, and have put together one of the world's largest silent book collections.
Over the past five years I have given performances, lectures, workshops and participated in panel discussions both at home and abroad, for, among others, OsloMet, Norwegian Children's Book Institute, Spiral Research project Conference (Athens, Greece), IBBY Denmark, Gentofte Library (DK), Kreativt hus for børn (Roskilde, DK), Tarari Tararera (Cento, Italy), City Council. for kindergartens in Bergen and Oslo, the University of Amsterdam, IBBY International Congress (Trieste, Italy), Bookstart Seminar and many more.
Each presentation and workshop is tailored to meet your exact needs, whether it is to learn more about silent books in general, to develop an inclusive multilingual reading culture, to learn to read and mediate silent books, silent book history, to work with visual literacy (i.e. the art of reading, understanding, interpreting and expressing oneself in pictures) or a combination. I also teach how to develop beautiful and inspiring physical environments for reading.
In longer workshops (anything from 2.5 hours to 2 days), many choose to combine the artistic with the academic, that is, to get a small "performance" with a silent book at the workshop as inspiration for their own work.
It is also possible to create a digital solution, either as a live webinar or as a recorded lesson that can be retrieved when you need it. Please contact me, and I will tailor a program that suits you!
