Lunaria is not only a bookstore, it is part of a wonderful project revolving aroung community and the love of books and art called Gammazita cutural association. So by shopping there, you not only get great books for yourself, you are supporting the project, that involves a sircus school, an open-air free-for-all public library, cultural events and more. We ended up spending a whole night in this neighboorhood in Catania, listening to a open-air consert, eating wonderful food and of course, doing lots of shopping at Lunaria.
Lunaria (luna means moon) has its name from its opening hours - from early afternoon to 02:00 am! The store is absolutely gorgeous and the selection of titles is wonderful: The best picturebooks, lots of beautiful silent books and the best collection of pop-up books I have every seen at a brick-and-mortar store. They also sell lovely little handmade trinkets, art books - and juggling equipment!
The atmosphere, both in the shop and in the neighboorhood, is really special. It restores faith in human kind and all the wonderful communities we can create when we work together and add art and literature to the equation. Enjoy!
