Libertina is located in the beautiful city Messina in Sicily. The owner of the store has worked in the children´s book industry for his entire career, and it shows, the selection of books is absolutely breath-taking! So many beautiful titles from all over the world. I was happy to find several books by the very talented Norwegian author Øvind Torseter, turns out the owner is a big fan.
The knowledge of the owner is just as impressive as the selection of books. He a lot of interesting stories to tell about the books and the authors, and knows a lot about silent books, the history and tradition. Libertina also offers art books by local artists.
This was one of the most interesting bookstore visits I have ever had, and I really hope I will be able to visit again someday! Libertina is both a brick-and-mortar and a travelling bookstore, they have a book bus that they drive around Italy - if you check out their Facebook-page you can see where they are going next.
