Stepping into Ideestortepaper is a feast for the eyes: It is both a bookstore, an art store and a publishing house! The shelves are filled with beautiful silent and children's books, and the walls are decorated with the gorgeous art of the owner, Angelo Bruno.
One thing that makes this store such a unique space, is the opportunity to buy both the book and the artwork from the book at the same time. The selection of books is amazing, and there are several great silent books to be found.
Because there are still so few publishing houses that dare to publish silent books, it always feels refreshing to find one that promotes both the books, the artists and their art. As mentioned, Angelo Bruno is an artist himself, and the author of several wonderful children's books, also silent books. On of them, Le balene di Aristotele, is now a treasured part of the Readsilentbooks collection and will be reviewed later this fall. Bruno's love of literature and philosophy is very visible in his books, that are highly original works of art.
The fact that Bruno is the owner of both the store and the publishing house means that you get a high level of literary expertise and great book recommendations.
You find Ideestortepaper in Palermo's historic center, in a very charming, little street filled with interesting vintage and art shops.
