A pigeon meets the Italian mafia
Everyday life can sometimes seem dull and repetetive for all of us humans - and according to author Ági Korbuly, also to pigeons! In Pigeon Post, we meet a pigeon who dreams of more exciting days. But as always, one should be careful what one wishes for...
Pigeon Post is a fast-paced silent book that, due to the use of panels and the black-and-white illustrations, reads almost like a comic book. Korbuly introduces a pigeon who is tired of his repetetive work for the post office. He packs his bag and goes off to Italy for a vacation, hoping for change of pace and scenery. It is hard to describe the actions of the book without spoiling it, but a misunderstanding leads our pigeon hero into a conflict - with the local mafia!
The pigeon is portrayed so charmingly that it is impossible not to fall in love with him, so the reader will keep rooting for him during his dangerous and action-packed adventure.

Korbuly's funny and charming illustrations are perfect for this story. The Italian mafia is precicely as scary (and stupid) as they should be, the pigeon's facial expressions are priceless, and as an added bonus we get to see many the Italian sights: The Trevi fountain, the Colosseum, art, narrow streets and cathedrals.
Pigeon Post is a very original silent book that is a great read for both children and adults alike. All the details in the illustrations requires lots of re-readings, and for each time, you will discover new twists and plots to this funny story.
